ArcticMed Marine Collagen is a hydrolyzed collagen (collagen peptides) derived from wild-caught white fish. When collagen is hydrolyzed, it breaks down into small bioactive peptides that the body uses as building material where needed – including in joints, tendons, and cartilage.
Type 1 collagen is the most common collagen in the body (about 90%) and forms the framework of connective tissue, joints, bones, and skin. In hydrolyzed form, the number of collagen types matters less – the body does not absorb “type 1” or “type 2,” but peptides.
It is true that type 2 collagen naturally occurs in joint cartilage, but it only has a specifically documented joint effect when used in undenatured form (UC-II). This is a completely different supplement taken in very small doses and usually in capsules – not as collagen powder.
